Great list of guidelines!

My comments:

1. I'd add that a session is for people to share songs and should not be dominated by one or two players. It's more fun when everyone has a turn to share a song that they know, even beginners.

2. I agree that sheet music is strongly discouraged at most sessions, and so are some big instruments (like the harp or double bass), so folks like me who like to refer to chord charts and play big instruments should ask whether we are welcome before showing up. It's a major bummer to attend a session where there's no room for our instrument.

3. In response to the last comment, the music is most certainly for an audience to enjoy, otherwise, of course we would get together in someone's home instead.

Cheers,
Anne :-)

Hi,

I was just visiting Asheville and wondered what ever happened to you - thanks to the internet I know! It's still a wonderful life for you I am happy to see. Nice tunes - who new that Irish music would be your bag, you introduced me to Bluegrass way back when on Giles street. Best regards,

Your old pal Kate!

Thanks for the update on the starter! I'm glad our quirky little guide did the trick.

Sorry that you had trouble finding my other site! That's at http://www.someguyinnevada.com. I do need to merge the two sites at some point.

I came back to comment and thank you for the how-to article with pictures of replacing a Tundra starter, but can no longer find it. I had estimates from $600 to $800, most of it labor due the inaccessiblity of the starter. My son and I, not mechanics but not lost using a wrench, fixed it in 2 and 1/2 hours (plus $69 to fix the starter) using your guide. Thank you again, and I hope you bring it back for others to use..

If this music is not for an audience, then why do you:

1. Play in a public place?
2. Solicit tips from the audience?

Their money is good, but not much else?

This is inconsistent at best.

I don't know much about worms. I'd probably jump if I see one. But yeah, I think they're good used as fertilizers. Great read!

>>>>>
>>>>> I’m contacting you on behalf of the Campaign for a United Ireland. We
>>>>> are working with supporters of Irish freedom throughout the country to
>>>>> put the issue of Irish reunification front and center with
>>>>> politicians, the public and the media. This effort follows directly
>>>>> from the Open Forum on a United Ireland, hosted by Gerry Adams in San
>>>>> Francisco and New York this past June.
>>>>>
>>>>> Following the San Francisco forum, the executive board of the
>>>>> California Democratic Party unanimously adopted a resolution calling
>>>>> for the reunification of Ireland. Similar resolutions were adopted by
>>>>> the San Francisco Labor Council (Sept. 28) and the San Francisco Board
>>>>> of Supervisors (Oct. 27). I’m contacting supporters of a united
>>>>> Ireland in Nevada to ask for your help in getting similar resolutions
>>>>> passed by state legislators, local government, Irish organizations,
>>>>> labor unions and other important organizations.
>>>>>
>>>>> We have contacted prominent Nevada political leaders asking them to
>>>>> support such a resolution. The letter e-mailed to them is in this
>>>>> email, below, along with the resolution. The resolution can also be
>>>>> found at the Calif. Democratic Party’s web site: Irish Unification
>>>>>
>>>>>
>>>>> The Irish diaspora, and Irish Americans in particular, have
>>>>> historically played a key role at pivotal times in quest for Irish
>>>>> sovereignty. The most important thing that we, as individuals, can do
>>>>> right now is to persuade our states, counties and cities to adopt this
>>>>> resolution. I am the coordinator for Nevada if you are interested in
>>>>> helping, or have any questions, please contact me at this email
>>>>> address.
>>>>>
>>>>> Thank you,

>>>> RE: Urging Your Support for a Resolution Supporting Reunification of
>>>> Ireland
>>>>
>>>> Dear [Senator/Assemblyman/Assemblywoman] [Last name of legislator]:
>>>>
>>>> I am writing to respectfully request your support, and that of your
>>>> party, in adopting a state resolution supporting reunification of
>>>> Ireland. The Executive Board of the California Democratic Party
>>>> recently adopted the attached resolution, supporting reunification of
>>>> Ireland by electoral and diplomatic means. We urge you to support a
>>>> similar measure in Nevada. We ask that you propose a similar
>>>> resolution for consideration by both your party and legislature.
>>>>
>>>> The contribution of Irish Americans and Irish born to Nevada and to the
>>>> United States has been substantial. The Campaign for a United Ireland
>>>> is reaching out to the Irish diaspora throughout Nevada and the United
>>>> States to engage their support for this effort. The logic of history,
>>>> human rights and international law, along with the momentum generated
>>>> by
>>>> the Irish peace process, signify that the time is ripe to pursue the
>>>> reunification of Ireland.
>>>> Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.
>>>>
>>>> Sincerely,
>>>>

My heart goes out the Calevro family. My best friend's brother, Patrick Smith (State of CT) was killed by a another diabetic driver, Wilfred J. Lebeau (State of CT). Lebeau was neglectful like Miley and he had ZERO excuses, the morning of December 5, 2007 that Lebaeau KILLED Patrick. It is coming up on 2 years and Patrick is still missed everyday. Lebeau was NEVER charged for anything even though he killed Patrick and admitted to the police he neglected to take care of his diabetes. He self medicated when he felt like it, he didn't eat that morning, he didn't test, didn't take his insulin and was out drinking the night before the 6:14AM murder. The State of CT is and has continued to be neglectful of Patrick's case. Justice for Patrick!! www.raaid.org
